Bruce is my first friend who has died. He died yesterday. I found about it when Joan e-mailed me (and a bunch of other folks) this afternoon.

I’m thinking about a lot of things right now but at the moment I don’t know what I’m feeling. Lots of things like anger, guilt, regret. Mainly sad.

Mainly sad.

1. The dress is too short to wear to work.
2. The shoes are making my toes sweaty.
3. I’m reading “My Life in France” instead of “Infinite Jest”, going back on my pledge to the Infinite Summer people. Sorry, dudes.
4. Did I mention I still have a BlogHer ’09 recap coming? Le sigh.
5. Back to the dress for a minute. On the plus side — which should be the name for a cheesy plus-size blog, by the way, somebody make that shit happen! — I think the print of the fabric is pretty and doesn’t make me look like I’m big piece of furniture. Don’t you find, fellow fat girls, that some prints make you look not so much dressed as upholstered? That and looking like a toddler in my clothes are my two biggest pet peeves/fears when it comes to dressing myself.

Joe and Hyacinth were at the airport when Jacinda and I arrived. They’re all adorable. Hyacinth was a little grumpy? sleepy? but perked up after a few minutes and then was very silly and adorable. She liked my camera and my bright yellow shoes.

Instead of heading straight home, we drove to the Brown Cow Ice Cream Parlor to have dessert with Khloé, Jeff, and Coco.

It doesn’t help that I celebrated 9 years of blogging on Monday. Or that BlogHer ’09 starts tomorrow. What’s my brand? What are my monetization strategies? Who is my SEO CEO? Where’s my sassy avatar that features a cartoon version of me wearing cat eye glasses and hoisting a cocktail over a sparkly pink laptop?

Um, I have a bunch of MiniCards that have the address of this blog on them. I have a MacBook with a cracked case and that greasy spot on the trackpad that will not go away. I have clips. I am an intern for the awesomest blog evah.

That being said, the next edition of the flip front will discuss:

• trips from the recent and not-so-recent past: This means that yes I will in fact finally be writing a recap of Maria and Clancy’s Feb. ’08 wedding.
• my new food friends: Publican, Red Mango
• Twitter, Tumblr, and all micro-blogging that keeps me away from here
• I still watch a lot of television. Maybe I’ll start a TV blog? Ever since I was let go from Recapist last year (yes, I was fired!) I’ve been wanting to cover tv. But what shows? In what format? Confusing.
• all the awesome movies I’ve seen this year: I saw “In The Loop” last night. SEE IT. I fucking mean it this time.

It was an amazing weekend, but not because I decided to wear this lovely floral watercolor print dress from Liz Claiborne, or because my lipstick (Tarte 24-7 Lip Sheer with SPF 15 in Saturday) looked so pretty.

It was an amazing weekend because I got to celebrate the wedding of two wonderful people, enjoy the quiet of a lovely, small town, and road trip with some hilarious people. Seriously — Laura, Kemper, and Thor, if you want to road trip to Seattle for Marshall & Christine’s first anniversary next year, count me in.

Don’t worry — a full recap of the wedding, as well as other things I’m behind on (Maria’s visit, my trip home to NYC in April, etc.) — is coming soon! How can I celebrate my ninth year of blogging when I haven’t written in so very long? Is it at all ironic that BlogHer ’09 is this very weekend? Sigh. But I can’t let you all go away with nothing. Marshall & Christine’s wedding was awesome, and the reception was AWESOME. Everybody danced. There was this older Korean couple who Laura swore only got up to dance to the Black Eyed Peas.

The reception started off with a traditional Korean ceremony where Christine & Marshall bowed to relatives from both sides of the family, accepted gifts, etc. The parents of the bride and groom would thrown chestnuts and dates to the bride, who’d catch them in her skirt. The number of each caught would dictate how many boys and girls they’d have. Christine caught a lot of dates and chestnuts in her skirt. Like, 14 chestnuts and 9 dates or something. Oh dear.

Pictures, another video, and a detailed recap to follow. This video depicts a Korean tradition, where the groom carries the bride on his back. I wish my camera wouldn’t stop recording audio when I’d zoom in. The lady in the lavender hanbok is the best friend of Marshall’s mother. She helped Christine with her bowing (as she had to keep her arms folded in front of her eyes, and could not use them as she stooped down and popped up) during the ceremony.

Guess whose blog turns 9 today? Do blogs have birthdays or anniversaries? Do I register for gifts somewhere? If I do, then know now that I want a pink toaster oven.

Um, I don’t know what to say except that I can’t believe it’s nine years later and I’m still writing about the same things — boys, food, fat, lipstick, more boys. Only now I do it in more places like on Twitter and Facebook.

The flip front was a newsletter and then it became a blog and it’s been that way ever since. I’ve tried starting a travel blog and a food blog and a shopping blog but it’s not like I’m not unfocused enough so everything got folded back into this blog.

Feel free to celebrate the ninth birthday of my blog by telling more people to read it. For serious I want page views like I want cake — which is to say, a whole lot. Oh, and here is the obligatory links to the flip front’s precursive e-mail (inspired by Jacinda, as always) and flip front no .1.
