what i’m listening to today
Loudon Wainwright III, Strange Weirdos: Music from and Inspired By the Film Knocked Up — Everytime I hear “Daughter”, I want to burst into tears. Because I’m a girl, and that’s what girls do. When I listen to “X Or Y”, I want to jump up and start dancing around. But I can’t do that, because I’d probably knock stuff over. Also, he was Karp’s dad on Undeclared, and how can you not support the awesome Hal Karp?
Oliver Wang (curator), Soul Sides Volume 2: The Covers — Soul remakes or remade soul. You can’t do better than this. I only got this in the mail the other day, so I’m not done with the first real listen. So far, I’m in love with Sharon Cash’s “Fever”, Byron Lee & The Dragonaires‘ “Express Yourself”, and Donovan Carless’s take on the Wiliam DeVaughn immortal “Be Thankful For What You Got”.
